Community Guidelines

LaunchSpot is a community for makers, founders, and tech enthusiasts to discover and launch products. These guidelines ensure a respectful, productive environment for everyone.

Core Principles

  1. Be respectful. Treat every community member with courtesy. Disagree with ideas, not people.
  2. Be authentic. Use your real identity. Company and brand accounts are not permitted for product submissions.
  3. Be constructive. Provide feedback that helps makers improve. "This is bad" is not useful. "The onboarding flow could be clearer because..." is.
  4. Be honest. Do not misrepresent your product, your role, or your experience.

Product Submissions

Allowed

  • Original products you built or are a team member on
  • Open-source projects, tools, apps, and services
  • Physical products with a tech component
  • Major updates or new versions of previously launched products

Not Allowed

  • Affiliate links or referral schemes disguised as products
  • Products that exist solely to collect personal data
  • Illegal products or services
  • Exact clones of existing products with no differentiation
  • Test or placeholder submissions

Submission Rules

  • You must wait 7 days after creating your account before submitting
  • Provide accurate product information (name, URL, description, screenshots)
  • Do not submit the same product URL more than once unless it's a major new version
  • Thumbnails must represent the actual product, not unrelated marketing images

Voting and Engagement

Do

  • Vote for products you genuinely find interesting or useful
  • Leave thoughtful comments and questions
  • Share products you like on social media

Do Not

  • Ask others to vote for your product (directly or indirectly)
  • Use multiple accounts to vote
  • Offer incentives (money, discounts, features) in exchange for votes
  • Use automated tools to manipulate votes or engagement
  • Participate in vote exchange groups or rings

Vote manipulation is taken seriously and results in immediate account suspension.

Comments and Forums

  • Stay on topic. Keep comments relevant to the product or thread.
  • No spam, self-promotion outside designated areas, or repetitive content.
  • No hate speech, harassment, threats, or personal attacks.
  • No NSFW content, graphic violence, or illegal material.
  • No doxxing or sharing others' private information.
  • Use the Self-Promotion forum category for promoting your own work.

Reviews

  • Only review products you have actually used.
  • Be fair and specific in your assessment.
  • Do not leave fake positive reviews for your own product or fake negative reviews for competitors.

Advertising

  • All advertisements must be clearly labeled as sponsored content.
  • Ad creative must be accurate and not misleading.
  • Ads for illegal products, hate groups, or adult content are prohibited.
  • All campaigns require admin approval before going live.

Enforcement

Violations of these guidelines may result in:

  1. Warning — First offense for minor violations
  2. Content removal — Offending content is removed
  3. Temporary suspension — Account suspended for 7-30 days
  4. Permanent ban — Account permanently removed for severe or repeated violations
  5. Rocket Fuel deduction — Points deducted for community guideline violations

Reporting

If you see content that violates these guidelines, use the Report button on any product, comment, thread, or profile. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours.

Appeals

If you believe your content was removed or your account was suspended in error, contact us at hello@launchspot.ai with the subject line "Appeal" and we will review your case.

Changes

We may update these guidelines as the community evolves. Significant changes will be communicated via email and the changelog.
